Digital Signatures
Digital Signatures are verified comments on Digital Collectables. It's a digital version of traditional signatures athletes can give on real life physical items.
Digital Signatures are a way for athletes, fans or brands to sign Minted Moments or Sports Stat Mints on the blockchain. A Digital Signature is recorded in the memos of an EQL Token transaction. The higher the amount of EQL sent, the higher on the display list the signature appears. Digital Signatures appear like comments on Digital Collectibles.
Benefits of Digital Signatures
Digital signatures on digital collectibles on the blockchain mirror the benefits of real-life signatures by athletes on physical items, while also offering enhanced security, durability, and global accessibility. These features make digital collectibles a compelling proposition for collectors and fans in the digital age, bridging the gap between traditional memorabilia and the burgeoning world of digital assets.
Authenticity and Provenance: Just as an athlete's signature on a physical item authenticates its origin and ties it directly to the athlete, a digital signature on a blockchain collectible verifies its authenticity. It assures buyers that the digital asset originates from the claimed creator or athlete, making its provenance indisputable.
Uniqueness and Rarity: In the physical world, an athlete's signature on merchandise increases its rarity and value because it is a one-of-a-kind item. Similarly, digital signatures can signify the uniqueness of a digital collectible. Blockchain technology ensures that each item is distinct and cannot be replicated, preserving its rarity.
Ownership and Transferability: Just as physical items signed by athletes can be sold or transferred, digital collectibles with digital signatures can be easily and securely transferred between owners on the blockchain. This process is transparent and immutable, ensuring that the history of ownership is preserved and indisputable.
Verification without Third Parties: Verifying the authenticity of an athlete's signature on a physical item often requires expert validation or certificates of authenticity. In contrast, the authenticity of digital signatures on blockchain collectibles can be verified directly on the blockchain, eliminating the need for third-party verification and reducing the risk of fraud.
Long-Term Durability: Physical items, even those with protective measures, can degrade or be damaged over time, potentially affecting the visibility or integrity of an athlete's signature. Digital collectibles, on the other hand, exist on the blockchain, ensuring that the digital signature remains intact and unchanged indefinitely, preserving the collectible's condition and value.
Global Accessibility: While physical items with athletes' signatures might be limited by geographical boundaries and logistical challenges, digital collectibles can be accessed, bought, and sold globally without physical barriers. This accessibility broadens the market and potential for collectors and fans worldwide to own a piece of their favorite athlete's legacy.
Increased Engagement: Digital signatures on collectibles create new opportunities for engagement between athletes and their fans. Athletes can issue limited edition collectibles, participate in virtual meet-and-greets, or offer special rewards to holders of their signed collectibles, enhancing the fan experience in ways not possible with physical items.
